In Stacey’s self-penned songs, such as Lonesome Rambler and I Am Home, one senses the wisdom of an old soul singing songs of hope, heartbreak, loss, sacrifice, bittersweet memories and let’s not forget strength. And Stacey boldly shines a light on some laid-to-rest darker sides of life, in songs such as, Back Against the Wall or Angel. With a voice like Jann Arden, K.T. Oslin and Lari White, Stacey embraces her roots in Americana when performing, delivering an artful blend of heartfelt vocals, with a fusion of folk, blues, country, & sometimes a touch of bluegrass.
Inspiring others to be their very best fills her soul, and when she isn’t chasing her own dreams, you will find her mentoring & teaching singers of all ages. With a career spanning over 20 years, Stacey’s many successes have come as a songwriter, a solo artist and as the lead singer in “Sister Girl”, one of her earlier bands. Personal accolades include nominations for best female vocalist for the BC Country Music Association, acknowledgments from songwriting contest like the Billboard Song Contest, Mountain Stage NewSong Contest and others, too numerous to mention. Stacey even has her own star on the prestigious Merritt, BC’s Walk of Stars.
Always aspiring to learn and grow, Stacey travels frequently to Nashville and has found the songwriting community there to be very welcoming. Networking and co-writing, she learns as much as she can from the Row’s hit-makers, focusing on writing ‘commercial country music’ that will lead to a major label artist cut. For her, it’s all about finding the balance between the driven commercial engine of music and staying true to her Americana country roots.
Joanne Stacey is an honest, all-round artist who absolutely loves to connect with her audience and says the best show she has ever experienced was when she was just being herself, raw and open, inviting the audience along for the ride. She leaves it all on the stage when she performs and her commitment to the truth shines in her lyrics. Yes, there are many layers to her and this chameleon may surprise you when the focus is on songwriting because when pen hits the paper, there is no room for accolades and applause for she knows a writer opens herself to the sometimes uncomfortable truth and finds the beauty that waits to be uncovered. It’s a gift indeed, to be able to take that hat, exchange it for the performer hat and deliver that message, no matter how painful, in a way that connects. That is Joanne Stacey’s gift. A true artist, an engaging performer, and a gifted songwriter.
